Video Contest Challenges Students To Demonstrate How “Saving Our Water is Saving Our Future”

Solano County middle school and high school students and their teachers can win up to $1,500 in cash by entering the 2022 Water Awareness Video Contest, sponsored by the Solano County Water Agency and local water utilities.

The 2022 theme—Saving Our Water is Saving Our Future—challenges students to explore the need for Solano County residents to conserve water to make the world a better place for Solano County families and future generations of residents.

“California is experiencing another serious drought and the impacts of climate change first hand with the recent swing from record-breaking dry weather to a precipitation deluge,” said Andy Florendo, Water Conservation Coordinator for Solano County Water Agency. “Helping students learn to conserve water now will help make sure this precious resource is available for future generations even with climate change.”

The contest is open to middle school and high school students in Solano County. Winning students and their sponsoring teacher will receive cash prizes. The contest also offers Solano County teachers special incentive prizes for sponsoring multiple students.

Judging will be based on entertainment value and originality, videography, style and organization, audio/sound, and movie content and accuracy, including whether the video incorporates the 2022 theme.
The deadline to receive entries is Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 5 p.m.
