With the pandemic still lingering, Soroptimist International of Vacaville is pivoting once again with its annual fundraiser – this time inviting the public to purchase dinner tickets and drive through Oct. 16 to pick up a tri-tip meal extravaganza in the parking lot of Ulatis Community Center.
Tickets are on sale now for $50 each for the scrumptious meal prepared by Chef To Go Catering, aka Chef Daniel. In addition to tri-tip, it will include salad, risotto, grilled fall vegetables and ciabatta bread.
All the money raised helps SI Vacaville support its mission of making the world a better place for women and girls. The club, which has been around Vacaville for 61 years, has hosted nearly 20 legendary lobster dinners, but since lobsters are so expensive this year, tri-tip has won the day.
Interested in sponsorship? Packages are available that come with meals, wine and an advertising package featuring you or your business’s name in multiple online spots.
A silent auction is also going virtual this year, and bidding has begun at soroptimistofvacaville.rallyup.com/soroptimistofvacavillefundraiser/Campaign/Details.
There are many unique and entertaining and engaging offerings, including desserts for a year; a three-night Aptos Beach house rental; a pastel drawing by local artist Lisa Rico and a scaled replica of the famous Nut Tree Hobby Horse by local artist Ken Hunter.
Bidding is open now until Oct. 15, according to Jackie De Vries, club president.
“Be sure to register your phone number so you’ll be texted if someone outbids you,” she said.
The bidding closes at 9 p.m. on Oct. 15, and winners will be able to pick up their prizes during the drive-through meal pickup between 6 and 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 16.
“There are so many ways to support SI Vacaville and its mission to help women and girls,” said De Vries. “Please consider ordering a meal, or bidding on a silent auction item. If nothing catches your fancy, we’d be happy to accept a donation of any size, to help fund our scholarships and our ‘Live Your Dream’ award program.”
