Drum in the New Year at the Vacaville Museum’s upcoming Arts & Lectures Day on Saturday January 25th from 1:30 pm-3:00 pm. The event, open to all ages, features the inspiring, internationally known African drummer, Mamadou Traore. Bringing his magnificent African drums for all to use, Mamadou will teach the basics of African drumming as he prepares the workshop participants to become part of a joyous African Drum Circle. One can only imagine the Museum being filled with great exuberance and joy!
Bring your favorite kids of all ages—or just come yourself and learn a new, vibrant skill and art. Mamadou, a native of Ivory Coast, is known for his warm and encouraging gifts as an educator and artist throughout the country– whether he’s performing, teaching or creating drum circles.
In addition to the participants becoming successful and confident African drummers, he’ll infuse the day with special African stories, lore and culture.
Mamadou was recently honored to “drum in” the 88th annual Christmas tree lighting at the California State Capitol ceremony and will soon be leading a drum circle in Davis, CA on January 19th in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Vacaville Museum’s Arts & Lectures drumming workshop is the perfect way to begin the New Year! The amazing drumming vibrations and joyful spirit will stay with you all year long.
