It seems as if everyone is running for a good community cause, but what if you’re just not a runner? Or even a fast walker? No problem.
Here’s an event just for you: Vacaville’s first-ever Utterly Fun 0.5K Beer Run, perhaps the very first “run” of this length in all of California. The length of the run, at 0.5K, is about three blocks long, and it benefits multiple Vacaville organizations.
Plus, there’s beer involved, you can bring your dog and, if you don’t want to run, walk or stroll from start to finish, you can always hail a ride from a “Moober,” courtesy of Jackson Medical Supply, to transport you to the route’s end.
The “fun-raising” event – set for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019 — is a benefit for the Vacaville Boys and Girls Club’s Blessings in a Backpack program that feeds at-risk youth in the community, as well as other community projects such as Play 4 All Park, Veterans Stand Down, Habitat for Humanity, the Napa/Solano Food Bank and Friday night meals for the homeless at Epiphany Episcopal Church. The event is organized by the members of the Rotary Club of Vaca Valley Eventide, and has been arranged so that festivities kick off just as the opening day of the Vacaville Farmer’s Market on Main Street is about to wrap up.
The route begins in downtown Vacaville, on East Main Street and ends at Town Square, where there will be live music, courtesy of headliner musician Buck Ford, and dancing from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Downtown Business Improvement District is arranging for games and food vendors, as well.
The cost is $26.50, which includes a t-shirt, medal, tokens for two beers or non-alcoholic beverages, and a donut stop – provided by High Voltage Donuts — half-way through the course. The Moober ride costs a bit extra. If that’s not enough there will even be a costume contest with the winners walking away with a trophy.
Early Register Here, Day-of registration begins at 8:00 a.m., however, shirts and medals may not be available.
