Teenage Summer Work Program

Do you have high-schoolers living at home? Do they have jobs? I mean JOBS, like fast food preparation, life guarding, landscaping…you know, real jobs? If not, do you give your teenage children jobs to do around the house? Emptying the dishwasher, walking the dog, cleaning their toxic waste dump-like rooms? Do you often get the following response when you create work for them: “I’m trying to relax and enjoy my summer! Why are you giving me a bunch of stuff to do?” Do you feel like going 1977 on them and explaining that the car their driving, the air conditioning their letting out of the open screen door and the frozen burritos their consuming at an unhealthy rate all cost money? Me too.
