Travis Credit Union Offers Free Teen Financial Boot Camp

June - August
1:00pm - 4:30pm
Travis Credit Union Community Room, Vacaville

Having it all is about your decisions today.  If you’re between 15 and 19, you probably have a list in mind of must-have stuff to take you where you want to get in life.  A car…a laptop…a college diploma are a few of the basics.  A hot, debt-free wardrobe, date money and a decent savings account wouldn’t be bad either.

Sign up for this half-day camp about making the right decisions to take you there.  Travis Credit Union can set you up in “Mad City” with a temporary life that you’ll use for a few hours to figure out how getting stuff really works.  All you’ve to lose are the bad decisions you’d make in real life if you didn’t sign up.

This 3½-hour simulation gives high school students a sense of adulthood with income and bills to pay.  Each participant is assigned a temporary identity, including occupation, salary, debt, marital status, and children, etc.  They visit nine “merchants” in Mad City to choose housing and transportation and purchase necessities and wants.  The goal is to simulate the realities of approaching financial responsibilities.

The boot camp is Wednesday, June 26, July 17, July 31 and August 14, 2013, 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Travis Credit Union Community Room located at One Travis Way, in Vacaville.  Refreshments and a drawing for an iPod will be provided.  Attendance is limited to 30 teens per session.  To reserve your seat, please call 707.469.1784 or 800.877.8328 ext. 61784#.
